TC Talk 4: Eat right, lose weight, and keep it off

Mireia Cervera 21 April 2022

On April 20, our restaurant Teresa Carles Lleida, opened its doors to celebrate Teresa Carles Talk 4: "Eat well, lose weight and keep it off", led by Dr. Laura Arnold.

Losing weight is 50% of the effortzo, but we still have 50% more to keep it for life. To lose weight and keep it off again, the key is to eat well, in a healthy, attractive, appetizing way and without starving. But it is possible?

For meTsar the Doctor emphasized that we must be clear that the ideal weight of each one depends on many factors; like gender, height, complexion, age and genes. The ideal thing, when we have doubts, is to put ourselves in the hands of a professional so that we cancan advise correctly.

good nutrition requires a varied, balanced and attractive diet.

The speaker went on to explain that good nutrition requires a varied, balanced and attractive diet. Varied means that it must include foods from all groups (carbohydrates, fats and proteins), since nNo food alone is nutritionally complete. Balanced , because energy must be distributed in a proportionate way among the different nutrients: 50-55% of carbohydrates, 30-35% of fats and 12-15% ofproteins. And of course, everything is presented and cooked so that the act of eating is a rewarding and nutritious moment.

It is also important that we look at the size of the servings ; eat canReasonable amounts of food during meals allow us to enjoy all the foods we like without harming our health with extra calories.

We should not skip meals as it can lead us to have auncontrollable hunger and filling ourselves with superfluous and unhealthy food. That is why it is important to worry about distributing the energy that is needed daily in 5 meals, spaced at regular intervals throughout the day.

The Ponente, he also stressed the importance of not lacking fruit, vegetables and whole grains in our diet, since they are the basis for a diet rich in fiber.

To end the Talk, Dr. Arnold concluded that we should not waste time, money or health in "miracle" diets, since they favor a very rapid recovery of lost weight (rebound effect). To achieve long-term weight loss, we must create good eating habits and also practice regularly andphysical exercise.
