TC Talk 14: Nutrition from 6 months

Mireia Cervera 20 April 2018

On April 17, our restaurant Teresa Crales Lleida, opened its doors to celebrate Teresa Carles Talk 14: Nutrition from the first 6 months of life ; from the hand of the Dietitian-Nutritionist Ingrid Gòdia.
The process of learning eating habits is especially important during the first years of life, since, in addition to facilitating good nutritional status and optimal growth, it can help to consolidate the acquisitionn of healthy habits for adulthood. From the hand of the Dietitian-Nutritionist Ingrid Gòdia, we discover, in this Talk, the guidelines and tips to follow to feed our baby.

During the first 6 months of life the baby shouldI would exclusively drink breast milk or formula (if not). From 6 months to a year, breast milk should be their main food, and the optimum would be that it last up to 3 years of life according to WHO recommendations.

  • Able to sit steady without assistance.
  • Loses the extrusion reflex that causes the nChildren expel the spoon with the tongue.
  • Shows interest in adult food.
  • He knows how to show hunger and satiety with his gestures.

The Baby Led Weaning is a very interesting method of gradual introduction ofcomplementary feeding. It is the most natural way to continue feeding our children after 6 months of exclusive breastfeeding, in which they have regulated the quantity and quality of the nutrients they have needed, the most logical thing isallow them to continue with such self-regulation. We simply take care of putting healthy and varied food at their fingertips and let them eat whatever they want.

The new foods that we are incorporating into the baby's diet should be offerede one at a time. They can consume almost everything, with some basic precautions such as preventing choking (for this reason we can give them ground or cream nuts, but not whole) and we will avoid unhealthy food.

Not only adultss we must be aware of our diet, but we have the responsibility to teach the little ones about the importance of good nutrition. The baby's diet is very important so that the child can support his bodyin growth and development, and better concentration, as well as to be able to learn good eating habits that will last a lifetime.
